How do I use wax melts?
Wax melts provide effective home fragrancing without the mess of traditional simmering potpourri or fragranced oil. Place your wax melt on the top of an oil burner or wax warmer (never add water). Light an unscented tealight to warm the burner for a controlled low flame and gradual diffusion of the fragrance. When melted, the wax will release its wonderful fragrance. You can also mix different fragrances together to create your own unique blend of aromas.

Note: there is no need to add any oil.

What type of burner/wax warmer do I need?

There are two general categories of burners/warmers: electric and tealight.

Electric warmers come in a few different varieties. The most common comes as a flat heating pad on a raised base (that can also couple as a candle warmer) with a dish on top that holds the wax. These are connected to an electric source via a lead and plug which gently warms the heating pad.

Tealight burners require a tealight candle to be placed in the base, with the wax (or scented oil) in the reservoir directly above the flame. They can come in either ceramic unit, soapstone or one with a glass or metal bowl.

Tealight burners are great for ambiance, they are much more mobile, and don't have to be attached to wall sockets unlike electric warmers.  However, these are more of a fire hazard and can get slightly hotter than their electric counterparts. Please assess which type of burner is most suited to your environment and preferences.
How many melts do I need to use at a time?

This depends on the size of your burner, but on most standard burners, one or two melts at a time will suffice.

How big are the wax melts?

Our melts are between 2.5cm and 3.5cm in diameter, and on average weigh between 5 to 10g. Our exclusive Rose Oud melt weighs 18g.
How long does each melt last?

Each wax melt has a burn time of around 8 hours (longer for the larger melts), however they can be reused until the scent completely diffuses.

How should I store my wax melts until use?

You should keep them in airtight/sealed containers or bags to retain as much of the scent as possible. Try to separate different scents to prevent fragrances mixing.
How do I change or clean out my melted wax?

Our favourite and easiest method is as follows:
1. Allow the wax to cool down and solidify
2. Wrap the burner (or plate if it is removable) in newspaper or plastic and place it in the freezer for 30 minutes.
3. Remove from the freezer, and the wax should slide out easily.
4. You can discard the used wax tart or seal it in a plastic bag to re-use another time

What safety precautions do I need to take when using wax melts and a tealight burner?

• Place your oil burner on a safe, stable surface, away from drafts and anything flammable and also well out of the reach of children

• Don't forget to extinguish the tea light candle when leaving the room - never leave it unattended or within reach of children

• Remember, burning wax involves a candle flame and hot melted wax; these two things can be very dangerous, so take extreme care when using them.

• Keep all scented products away from babies and young children.

• Never add water to a burner when using wax melts

• Before attempting to clean or change melted wax, always wait until it has completely cooled.

What are the ingredients in wax melts?

Our melts are made from mineral waxes. This wax burns slowly and cleanly and has a number of advantages over vegetable waxes.  It also blends well with most fragrances and produces significantly greater scent throw than an equivalently sized vegetable wax candle.

Our melts also contain the finest high quality essential oils and fragrances.

What is Oud?

Oud comes from the wood of the Southeast Asian agar (aquilaria) tree which produces a dark, scented, resin, and is often called 'liquid gold'. Oud is rare and very expensive. The scent is an ancient one that has been used for thousands of years in the Middle East and Asia. It has musky, sensual and captivating notes and resembles few other scents.
At Scents of Paradise, we use the highest quality Oud oils in our wax melts and scented crystals. Coupled with fragrances like Rose and Amber, they produce the most powerful and soulful aromas so it's no wonder these are our bestsellers!

What are Scented Crystals, and how do I use them?

Our Scented Crystals are highly fragranced aromatherapy beads beautifully packed in organza bags. They can be used in drawers, wardrobes, bathrooms, cars, luggage or any other space - even at the bottom of your dustbin to keep odours away!

Simply place the organza bags in each space you want to keep beautifully fragranced. The more enclosed the space, the longer the scent will last.
Store away from direct sunlight, polished surfaces and delicate or light-coloured clothing.
Can I use the Scented Crystals on a burner?

We don't recommend burning the crystals, as they are best stored in spaces where their aroma can diffuse naturally and gradually over time.
How long does the Scented Crystals' aroma last?

This varies on how they are stored; the size and context of the space. When kept inside drawers, you should expect the scent to last for at least 3-4 months.
